Paul Merson is backing Chelsea to claim a 3-1 victory over Stoke City when the Blues travel to the bet365 Stadium on Saturday afternoon.

The Blues have been in good form so far this season but were held to a goalless draw by Arsenal at Stamford Bridge last weekend to leave them in third place in the Premier League table.

Stoke have already claimed positive results at home against the likes of Arsenal and Manchester United so far this season.

But former Arsenal man Merson is expecting Chelsea to get the job done this weekend.

Speaking on Sky Sports News on Friday morning, Merson said: “I’ve gone with Chelsea to win this 3-1.

“They weren’t very good against Arsenal, I was disappointed.

“I never go against Stoke usually but I expect Chelsea to win this game quite comfortably.”

French defender Kurt Zouma, who is currently on loan to Stoke from Chelsea, is ineligible to feature against his parent club this weekend.

Chelsea are aiming to defend their Premier League title this season after having won the trophy in Antonio Conte’s first campaign at the club last term.

The west London side are also aiming to make progress in the Champions League after missing out last term, with Conte’s men set to travel to Spain to take on Atletico Madrid next Wednesday night.

They kicked off their European campaign with a thumping 6-0 win over Qarabag at Stamford Bridge earlier this month.
