Robbie Savage has admitted that he has been impressed by the way Alexis Sanchez has been performing professionally for Arsenal so far this season.

The Chile international has been in good form for the north London side since being reinstated to the first team following a brief injury lay-off at the start of the season.

Sanchez was heavily linked with a transfer away from Arsenal during the summer window, with Manchester City touted as a main destination, but a move failed to materialise for the forward.

The 28-year-old was named as the man of the match as Arsenal claimed a 2-0 victory over Brighton and Hove Albion at The Emirates on Sunday.

And former midfielder Savage has been impressed by Sanchez’s attitude, although he feels that he’s still pushing for a transfer away from The Emirates.

Speaking to BT Sport on Sunday, Savage said: “Every time he goes onto that pitch in an Arsenal shirt, he’s in the shop window.

“I’m sure every team around the world would want Alexis Sanchez on a free transfer.

“Whether he goes in January is another thing. But if he continues performing and playing well… he works exceptionally hard for his side. He wants to win trophies.”

Arsenal return to Premier League action after the international break when the Gunners take on Watford at Vicarage Road.

The north London side are currently fifth in the Premier League table and six points behind leaders Manchester City as they bid to try and win the title for the first time since 2004 this season.

Arsenal finished fifth in the table last term.
