Wenger: Arsenal signing was decisive against Swansea, he has so much quality
Arsene Wenger explains why he was so delighted by Sead Kolasinac's contribution for Arsenal against Swansea
Arsene Wenger singled out Sead Kolasinac for special praise after his brilliant performance in Arsenal’s 2-1 victory over Swansea City on Saturday.
The Bosnian defender helped Arsenal to come from a goal down to claim the three points and make it two wins in a row in the top flight.
Kolasinac equalised for Arsenal in the 51st minute at The Emirates and enjoyed a strong performance as Aaron Ramsey netted the eventual winner shortly after.
And Wenger has been absolutely delighted with the strong start Kolasinac has made to life at Arsenal since joining the club on a free transfer from Schalke in the summer.
Speaking at his post-match news conference, Wenger said: “Kolasinac was decisive today.
“We had a bit more space on the left and we wanted to take advantage of that in the second half.
“It’s just down to quality. Since he has arrived he’s convinced everybody that he’s a good signing.
“He has natural qualities which suit him as a wing back. He has absolute body power in his game which you need in the Premier League.”
Arsenal’s win over Swansea still left them with some work to do in getting back into the title race, with the Gunners currently nine points behind leaders Manchester City after 10 games.
The Gunners will now switch their attentions back to Europa League affairs and their home clash against Red Star Belgrade on Thursday night.
Arsenal have not won the Premier League since their famous unbeaten triumph back in the 2003-04 campaign.
They finished fifth and missed out on Champions League qualification last term.
