Robert Pires: Arsenal summer signing is a warrior, he loves to fight
The Arsenal legend describes Alexandre Lacazette as a player who "loves to fight"
Robert Pires has described Arsenal summer signing Alexandre Lacazette as a “warrior”.
The Gunners made the France international their most-expensive signing of all-time when Lacazette completed a £52m switch to Arsenal from Ligue 1 side Lyon.
Lacazette has made a positive start to his Premier League career following a return of five goals in 10 appearances so far this season.
The 26-year-old is still waiting to score his first goal on the road this season to raise questions about his ability to perform away from the Emirates Stadium.
Lacazette scored 100 goals in 201 appearances for Lyon during his seven-season career at the Ligue 1 side.
Former Arsenal and France midfielder Pires talked up Lacazette’s qualities with a glowing review of the Gunners signing.
“Lacazette is a like a warrior, he loves to fight, he loves to run, he has a very good spirit,” Pires told Arsenal’s website.
“He can learn quickly because he works every day with great players, so that’s why he’s very important and I’m sure Alex Lacazette can help Arsenal to win something at the end of the season.”
Wenger’s side were 2-1 winners against Swansea City at the Liberty Stadium on Saturday.
Arsenal finished in fifth place in the Premier League last season to miss out on a spot in the Champions League for the first time under Arsene Wenger.
The Gunners have already lost three games in the Premier League this season following defeats at Stoke City, Liverpool and Watford.
However, the north London side have won all five of their Premier League fixtures at The Emirates.
