Ian Wright believes Arsenal should consider Sean Dyche as a potential successor for Arsene Wenger at the Emirates Stadium.

The Gunners boss has been coming under relentless pressure in recent months following Arsenal’s failure to challenge for the Premier League title over the past three or four seasons.

Wenger signed a two-year contract extension with the north London club in the summer despite the Gunners finishing in fifth place in the table last term to miss out on a Champions League spot.

Dyche managed to keep Burnley in their Premier League table last season thanks to 16th-place finish following their return to the English top flight at the start of the 2016-17 campaign.

Burnley have already won 3-2 at Chelsea and 1-0 at Everton in the 2017-18 season, while Dyche’s side earned credible draws at Liverpool and Tottenham Hotspur this season.

Former Arsenal striker Wright believes Dyche should be considered as a manager capable of succeeding Wenger at the north London club when the Frenchman calls time on his career.

“Yes – he is somebody at some stage he will be touted for the England job. He needs to go to the next level [like Arsenal],” Wright told BBC Radio 5 Live.

“A club that can play in Europe on a regular basis. If he carries on as he is, he’ll be pushed into that role. Will he get a job like that? I don’t think he will.”

Arsenal managed to bounce back from losses to Stoke City and Liverpool with a four-game unbeaten run in the Premier League to leave the Gunners six points adrift of current leaders Manchester City.
