Mesut Ozil breaks silence about his Arsenal future
Mesut Ozil insists he is happy at Arsenal and is ready to give his all for the north London club
Mesut Ozil has insisted that he is happy at Arsenal and ready to give his all for the north London club.
The Germany playmaker’s situation has been a relentless source of speculation over the last few months after both he and Alexis Sanchez entered into the final 12 months of the their contracts at The Emirates.
Both Ozil and Sanchez have inevitably been linked with transfers away from Arsenal in recent months as the clock ticks down on their deals at The Emirates.
Arsenal majority shareholder Stan Kroenke was quoted last week as saying that he hopes that the north London club will be able to keep hold of both Ozil and Sanchez beyond their current deals.
And the 29-year-old playmaker has now broken his silence on his situation at Arsenal as the Gunners prepare for their Premier League clash against Swansea on Saturday afternoon.
Speaking to Sky Sports, Ozil said: “It’s very nice to hear that [Kroenke’s comments] and to see that – he’s the major shareholder.
“I’m happy here, and I do my job to 100 per cent as I always have. I give everything and leave it all on the pitch for the team.
“The most important thing is football. I want to give everything, 100 per cent for this club.
“It’s important for me to give my all and enjoy playing as well. Whatever else happens, we will see in the future.”
Ozil joined Arsenal from Real Madrid in a big-money deal back in the summer of 2013.
Sanchez, meanwhile, arrived at The Emirates the season after, with the Chilean having been heavily linked with a move to Manchester City in the summer transfer window.
Arsenal are currently nine points behind leaders Manchester City in the title race.
