Mesut Ozil’s agent has dropped a big hint that the Arsenal playmaker wants to stay at The Emirates before the end of his contract.

The Germany playmaker’s situation has been a relentless source of speculation in recent months after both he and Alexis Sanchez entered into the final 12 months of their contracts at The Emirates.

Ozil is believed to be keen to secure a significant wage increase with his next contract but there has been no official announcement about his future from either the club or the player.

Now, Ozil’s agent has appeared to hint that the 28-year-old is keen to stay at Arsenal and sign a new deal to keep him at the club beyond the end of this season.

Dr Erkut Sogut told Turkish outlet Fanatic, as quoted by Metro: “Ozil wants to play another two to three years in the Premier League.

“Talks with Arsenal are ongoing regarding a new deal, what I can say right now is that negotiations are going well.”

Ozil missed Arsenal’s 2-0 win over Brighton before the international break with a knee problem but he has been working on his fitness levels at the club’s London Colney training ground in recent days.

It remains to be seen whether the former Real Madrid star will be fit for Arsenal’s clash with Watford at Vicarage Road in the Premier League on Saturday evening.

Arsenal are currently fifth in the table and six points behind leaders Manchester City.
