Arsenal have been handed a boost after Bayern Munich pulled out of the race to sign Monaco forward Thomas Lemar, according to reports in Germany.

German outlet Kicker, as quoted by the Daily Mirror, is reporting that the Bundesliga champions aren’t planning to sign the France international in the January transfer window.

The same article states that Bayern attempted to sign Lemar in August but the German club were priced out of a potential deal after Monaco named their €90m price tag.

According to the same story, Arsenal are prepared to relaunch their bid to sign Lemar after the France forward turned down the Gunners on transfer deadline day.

The north London side will still face competition from Premier League rivals Liverpool after the Kicker report suggested that the Reds remain interested in the attacker.

Liverpool were heavily linked with a move to sign Lemar in the summer transfer window but opted to bring in Arsenal and England midfielder Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain in a £40m deal on transfer deadline day.

The Gunners lost 2-1 to Watford at Vicarage Road in their last Premier League game on Saturday evening to leave Arsene Wenger’s side nine points adrift of current leaders Manchester City.
