David Pleat heaped praise on the “outstanding” Eden Hazard after the Belgian playmaker fired Chelsea to a narrow 1-0 victory over Bournemouth on Saturday evening.

After a goalless first half at the Vitality Stadium, Hazard broke the deadlock in the 51st minute with his first Premier League goal of the season.

The victory was a vital one for Antonio Conte’s men, who remain in fourth place in the table and nine points behind leaders Manchester City in the table.

And former Tottenham manager Pleat was hugely impressed by what he saw from Hazard against the Cherries on Saturday evening.

Speaking to BBC Sport during the game, Pleat said: “Eden Hazard has been the most outstanding player on the pitch.

“He just has that little bit extra quality.

“We have had several good performances out here today though.”

Chelsea now switch their attentions back to Champions League affairs and their trip to Roma in Europe on Tuesday night.

Hazard looks like he is rediscovering his top form for Chelsea after missing the opening few games of the season with an ankle injury.

The Belgian playmaker picked up an ankle injury at the start of the summer and was forced to work hard on his fitness levels during the off-season.

Chelsea return to Premier League action next weekend with a crunch home clash against Manchester United at Stamford Bridge.
