Antonio Conte has admitted that Alvaro Morata has plenty of room for improvement at Chelsea but says he is happy with the striker’s start to life at Stamford Bridge.

The Spanish striker has been getting used to life in England after joining the Blues from Real Madrid back in July.

Morata has made a strong start to life at Stamford Bridge, scoring six goals and making three assists in his first nine Premier League games for the west London side.

The 25-year-old is currently recovering from a hamstring problem picked up against Manchester City but he is now close to being back to full fitness.

Morata drew a blank but set up Eden Hazard for the winner as he played 79 minutes of Chelsea’s 1-0 victory at Bournemouth on Saturday night.

And Conte insists that he has been delighted by the strong start Morata has made to life at Stamford Bridge.

Speaking at his post-match news conference, Conte said: “I am happy for his commitment, his desire and his will to fight.

“For sure he can do better but don’t forget Morata is recovering from a muscular problem. When you have this type of problem you need a bit of time to come back in the best physical condition.

“I‘m very happy with his performance, a lot of the time he recovered a very important ball in transition.”

Chelsea now switch their attentions back to Champions League affairs and their crunch clash against Roma in Italy on Tuesday night.

The west London side’s win over Bournemouth left them fourth in the Premier League and nine points behind leaders Manchester City after 10 games of the new season.
