Alvaro Morata was back in training for Chelsea at Cobham on Sunday as the striker steps up his recovery from a hamstring injury.

The striker has been out of action since suffering the muscular problem during the 1-0 loss to Manchester City before the international break.

Morata was unavailable for selection for Chelsea’s trip to Crystal Palace on Saturday as they slumped to a disappointing 2-1 Premier League defeat.

However, the Spain international handed Chelsea a much needed boost on Sunday when he returned to training at Cobham ahead of the Blues’ crunch clash with Roma in the Champions League on Wednesday night at Stamford Bridge.

Speaking after his side’s defeat by Crystal Palace on Saturday, Chelsea boss Antonio Conte confirmed that he is hoping to have Morata back available for selection for the crunch clash against Roma this week.

Morata has made a strong start to life at Chelsea since his move from Real Madrid, scoring six goals and making two assists in seven Premier League games for his new club.

The 24-year-old will also be hoping to feature when Chelsea take on Watford at Stamford Bridge next weekend.
