Danny Drinkwater will be hoping to make his first appearance in a Chelsea shirt on Wednesday when the Blues host Everton in the League Cup fourth round at Stamford Bridge.

The England international is still waiting to make his first appearance for his new club since signing for the Blues from Leicester City on transfer deadline day back in August.

Drinkwater has struggled with a string of injury problems in recent weeks since his move to Stamford Bridge but he has been training with the Chelsea first team at Cobham as he bids to make his first run out of the season.

And it seems that he will be in contention to feature for the Blues when they host the Toffees on Wednesday night.

Chelsea head into the game fresh from their thrilling 4-2 comeback win over Watford at Stamford Bridge last weekend.

That result left the Blues in fourth place in the Premier League table and nine points behind early leaders Manchester City.

The west London side will return to Premier League action next weekend when they take on Bournemouth.

Chelsea won the title in Antonio Conte’s first campaign in charge last season and Drinkwater was one of six new summer signings at Stamford Bridge.
