Antonio Conte sent clear warning about Eden Hazard at Chelsea
Pat Nevin warns Antonio Conte that Chelsea must do all they can to keep hold of Eden Hazard at Chelsea
Pat Nevin has warned Antonio Conte that Chelsea must do all they can to keep Eden Hazard at Chelsea in future transfer windows.
The Belgian playmaker has established himself as one of the Premier League’s top attacking talents since his arrival at Chelsea from Lille back in 2012.
Hazard has played a key role in Chelsea’s most recent two title triumphs, after having helped the west London club to win the Premier League in two of the last three seasons.
The 26-year-old has been regularly linked with a transfer away from Chelsea in recent summers, with Real Madrid touted as the most likely destination for the attacker.
Now, former Chelsea winger Nevin has talked up the importance of Hazard to Conte’s side and warned that he cannot be sold if the Blues want to challenge for major honours.
Nevin told the Daily Star: “Last season it became clear the affect that he has on the team and the club, especially compared to when he didn’t have a good season the season before.
“He makes a huge difference. The players who can bring extra stuff and are that touch above everyone else and take two or three players out of the play, they destroy systems.
“If you want to win things, be it the league or the Champions League, if you want to win the major trophies then you need major players like Hazard.
“If their aim is that high, you need him and need to keep him and know that he is worth just about as much as anyone else.”
Hazard will be expecting to feature for Chelsea when the Blues return to Premier League action after the international break with a trip to Crystal Palace.
The west London club were beaten 1-0 by title rivals Manchester City at Stamford Bridge in their most recent Premier League outing before the international break to leave them fourth in the table.
