Wayne Bridge admits that he has been impressed by Alvaro Morata’s fast start to life at Chelsea following his move from Real Madrid in the summer.
The 24-year-old forward has been a regular fixture in the first team at Stamford Bridge since signing for Antonio Conte’s men back in July.
There were inevitably some question marks about how quickly Morata would be able to adapt to the rigours of English football, but the striker has been in top form so far this term and has shown plenty of promise.
And former Chelsea defender Bridge feels that Morata’s link-up play with the likes of Cesc Fabregas in midfield has helped him to make a quick start to life at the west London club.
Speaking to the Sun, Bridge said: “Morata has obvious quality – he’s quick, he’s running in behind and scoring goals with his head and his feet.
“He’s a totally different player in terms of what Chelsea are used to, with the likes of Didier Drogba and Costa who are big and strong and bullied defenders.
“With the likes of Fabregas who can slip him in, with the runs that he makes he’s going to get chances.”
Morata will be hoping to feature for Chelsea when the Blues return to Premier League action after the international break with a clash against Crystal Palace at Selhurst Park on Saturday 14 October.
The Blues are aiming to defend their Premier League title this season after having won the title in style last term in Conte’s first campaign in charge at Stamford Bridge.
Chelsea have won the league in two of the last three seasons.
