Antonio Conte urges Chelsea fans to be patient with Alvaro Morata
The Chelsea manager wants the defending champions to be patient with summer signing Alvaro Morata
Antonio Conte has warned Chelsea supporters that it will take Alvaro Morata some time to find his rhythm.
The Spain international moved to the defending Premier League champions in a £58m deal from La Liga and Champions League holders Real Madrid in the summer transfer window.
Morata scored seven times in eight Premier League games this season including a hat-trick against Stoke City following a brilliant start to the 2017-18 campaign.
The 24-year-old suffered a hamstring problem during the first half of Manchester City’s 1-0 victory over the defending Premier League champions at the end of September.
Morata has found the back of the net since he returned to the Chelsea team to raise some concerns about the summer signing’s current form.
Chelsea will make the trip to Serie A giants AS Roma in the Champions League mid-week before the defending champions host Manchester United in the Premier League at Stamford Bridge next weekend.
Speaking to BBC Radio 5 Live about Morata’s performance at Bournemouth, Conte urged Chelsea fans to be patient with the Spanish forward.
“Alvaro is coming back after an injury,” Conte said.
“For this reason he needs a bit of time to find the right rhythm.
“He played with great commitment. He didn’t score but he tried to be always involved in our football.
“I am happy with him.”
Chelsea won the Premier League title with two games to spare last season in their first campaign under Italian coach Conte.
