Pat Nevin insists he isn’t worried about Antonio Conte’s future at Chelsea despite reports linking the Italian coach with a return to Serie A.

The Blues boss has endured a tricky start to the 2017-18 season following a return of four victories from their opening seven games in the Premier League.

Chelsea lost 1-0 to Premier League leaders Manchester City at Stamford Bridge on Saturday evening following Kevin De Bruyne’s brilliant winner against his former club.

The defending champions have managed to collect 13 points from their opening seven Premier League games to leave the title holders six points adrift of Manchester City.

Chelsea missed out on some of Conte’s top targets in the summer transfer window such as Manchester United signing Romelu Lukaku and Juventus left-back Alex Sandro.

The 49-year-old has been touted as a potential replacement for Vincenzo Montella at AC Milan if the San Siro outfit finally lose patience with their current boss.

However, Nevin is relaxed about Conte’s future despite continued speculation linking the ex Juventus manager with a return to Serie A.

“Personally I’d want him to stay because I enjoy learning from him and I like the guy, he’s entertaining,” Nevin told Daily Star.

“Now I wouldn’t worry about it until the end of this season and possibly even another season after that and in football that is an eternity.”

Conte led Chelsea to the Premier League title in his first season in charge at Stamford Bridge.

The Italian coach signed six players in the summer transfer window.
