Antonio Conte has said that the likes of Ethan Amapdu deserve a place in the first team with Chelsea and claims that players such as the teenager are the “future” of the club.

The 17-year-old midfielder made his first start of the season for the west London club last week when he helped Chelsea to claim a 2-1 victory over Everton in the League Cup fourth round at Stamford Bridge.

Ampadu has also made one other League Cup appearance for the Blues this season as he looks to impress manager Conte and secure a regular place in the first team with the west London club.

And Conte was clearly impressed with what he saw from the youngster last week as he described him as the “future” of the west London club.

Speaking to Chelsea’s website, Conte said: “Amapdu for example is a player who is only 17 years old but he deserves to stay with us and develop and be the future of Chelsea.”

Chelsea are currently preparing for their Champions League clash against Roma in Italy on Tuesday night.

The Blues will then switch their attentions back to Premier League affairs and their crunch clash against Manchester United at Stamford Bridge next weekend.

Chelsea won the Premier League in Conte’s first campaign at the club last season.
