Pat Nevin has admitted that Manchester City are miles ahead of Chelsea at the moment.

The Blues suffered a 1-0 loss to the Citizens at Stamford Bridge in the Premier League on Saturday evening.

While the scoreline suggests the title rivals played out a close-fought game, Manchester City were by far the better team.

Former Chelsea midfielder Kevin De Bruyne scored a second-half winner to secure three points for the visitors.

Pep Guardiola’s side have 19 points from their opening seven fixtures after scoring 22 goals and conceding twice.

Chelsea are already seven points adrift of Manchester City and Manchester United after dropping points against Arsenal, Burnley and the Citizens.

Former Chelsea winger Nevin admitted that the defending champions have a lot of work to do to catch the Manchester clubs.

“Man City are miles ahead of Chelsea at the moment,” Nevin told Newstalk when asked about the two title contenders.

Chelsea have won the Premier League title in two of the past three seasons under Jose Mourinho and then Mourinho.

The Blues signed six players in the summer transfer window to add more depth to Conte’s squad.

However, Chelsea appear to be paying the price for selling experienced Serbia international Nemanja Matic to title rivals Manchester United in the summer transfer window.
