The Blues were thoroughly outplayed by Pep Guardiola’s men at Stamford Bridge as the west London side suffered their second home defeat of the season.
The result left Chelsea in fourth place in the Premier League table and six points behind leaders Manchester City after seven games of the new season.
Antonio Conte will now look to get his side back to winning ways when Chelsea take on Crystal Palace at Selhurst Park after the international break on Saturday 14 October.
And former Blues midfielder Lampard feels that the quicker Chelsea are able to forget about Saturday’s defeat by Manchester City, the better.
Speaking on BT Sport after Saturday’s game, Lampard said: “Chelsea were outplayed on Saturday.
“You have to wipe your hands and say they were better than us today.
“The way it went today, you can’t dwell on it – they were just better than Chelsea.”
Chelsea are aiming to defend their Premier League title this season after having won the trophy in style in Conte’s first campaign in charge at the club last term.
The Blues have made a strong start to life back in the Champions League, after having won both of their opening two games – against Qarabag and Atletico Madrid.
Chelsea’s next European clash with be a home game against Roma on 18 October.
