Garth Crooks believes that the Premier League title race is going to come down to a straight shootout between Chelsea, Manchester United and Manchester City.

Manchester United continued their strong form in the Premier League on Saturday when they claimed an impressive 4-0 win over Crystal Palace at Old Trafford.

Manchester City, meanwhile, earned widespread praise for their display as Kevin De Bruyne’s goal handed Pep Guardiola’s men a 1-0 victory at Stamford Bridge on Saturday.

Both Manchester City and Manchester United have the same number of points after seven games of the new campaign, while Chelsea are further behind and six points adrift of the leaders.

However, Crooks feels that Chelsea will be among the main contenders for the Premier League title come the end of the season.

Speaking to BBC Sport on Saturday afternoon, Crooks said: “They’ve really started to play well.

“Overall, Conte’s brought Chelsea’s back into the mix.

“The two Manchester teams and Chelsea – I think those are the three front-runners for the title.”

Chelsea are aiming to defend their Premier League title having lifted the top flight crown under Antonio Conte last season.

The Blues will aim to return to winning ways in the Premier League after the international break when they take on Crystal Palace at Selhurst Park.

Manchester United, meanwhile, face a tricky trip to Anfield to take on bitter local rivals Liverpool as they look to continue their fine form.
