Former Chelsea coach admits Man United signing has been a revelation
Ray Wilkins discusses how Nemanja Matic has flourished at Manchester United since leaving Chelsea

Ray Wilkins has admitted that Nemanja Matic has been a “revelation” at Manchester United and he still cannot understand why Chelsea opted to sell him.
Chelsea made the surprising decision to let Matic leave Stamford Bridge and sign for their Premier League rivals back in August, after Antonio Conte deemed the Serbian midfielder to be surplus to requirements at the west London club.
Matic has made a strong start to life at Manchester United and has been a regular fixture in the first team to help Jose Mourinho’s men to lead the way towards the top of the Premier League table.
The 29-year-old midfielder has made one assist in seven Premier League games for Mourinho’s side to help them up to second place in the table and level on points with Manchester City.
And Wilkins admits that he still cannot understand why Chelsea let Matic move to Manchester United in the summer transfer window.
Wilkins told Sky Sports News: “Why did Chelsea sell him at £40m?
“I’ve no idea, I really have no idea whatsoever. This guy has been an absolute revelation at Manchester United.
“He’s allowing everybody to do their jobs and do their jobs a lot better. His stature is at six-foot four and he just allows people to do their job.”
Matic will be expecting to feature for Manchester United when the Red Devils return to Premier League action after the international break with a crunch clash against Liverpool at Anfield.
The Red Devils are aiming to win the Premier League title for the first time since 2013 this season.
