Michy Batshuayi sends clear Chelsea message to Antonio Conte
Michy Batshuayi is determined to prove himself to Chelsea boss Antonio Conte in the coming weeks
Michy Batshuayi says he is determined to prove himself to Antonio Conte as capable of leading the line for Chelsea.
The Belgian striker has found his first team opportunities at Chelsea to be few and far between since he signed for the Blues from French side Marseille in the summer of 2016.
Batshuayi did make some significant contributions last season, as he came off the bench to score the all-important winner which clinched Chelsea the title at West Brom back in May.
He also came off the bench to net the winner in the 2-1 victory over Atletico Madrid in the Champions League last month.
Batshuayi will now be hoping to enjoy a regular run in the first team at Chelsea after the news of Alvaro Morata’s injury lay-off.
Although it is not clear how long Morata will be out of action for, the Belgian forward is hoping to prove himself as worthy of a regular spot in the first team in the coming weeks and months.
Speaking to Sky Sports, Batshuayi said: “I know Conte has confidence in me. Otherwise, he would have let me leave during the summer.
“It’s a chance for me. If I’m called on, I want to be ready and efficient. I have to stay really focused.
“I’ve already started games at Chelsea and played well. I’m an efficient striker, but I’m not a joker.”
