Michy Batshuayi has admitted that he is not enjoying being on the bench for Chelsea but said that he proved a point as he scored two goals in the Blues’ 4-2 victory over Watford on Saturday afternoon.

The Belgian striker has struggled to hold down a regular spot in the first team at Stamford Bridge since his transfer to the club from Marseille last summer.

Indeed, the forward has only started two Premier League games for the Blues so far this season as he struggled to hold down a regular spot in the first team.

Batshuayi played the final 29 minutes of Chelsea’s impressive comeback win over Watford on Saturday and he proved his worth to Conte by netting twice in the thrilling victory.

And the 24-year-old admits that although he is not happy to be starting on the bench so often, he was happy to play a role on Saturday.

Speaking to Sky Sports after the game, Batshuayi said: “Starting on the bench is a difficult moment for me but I stay focused every day to work hard and train hard.

“Today I did my job and scored two goals.

“I’m very happy to take the three points in a difficult moment for the team.”

Chelsea now switch their attentions back towards League Cup affairs and their home clash against Everton in midweek in the fourth round.

The victory lifted Chelsea up into fourth place in the table.
