Antonio Conte sent blunt warning about Michy Batshuayi at Chelsea

Ray Wilkins explains why he is yet to be convinced by Michy Batshuayi at Chelsea

Michy Batshuayi is not good enough to lead the line for Chelsea in Alvaro Morata’s absence, according to Ray Wilkins.

Morata is currently sidelined with a hamstring injury picked up during the first half of Chelsea’s 1-0 loss to Manchester City in the Premier League last weekend.

It remains to be seen exactly how long the 24-year-old striker will be out of action for, but clearly Batshuayi will be hoping to get some more regular playing time during Morata’s absence.

However, Antonio Conte opted to bring on Willian instead of Batshuayi after Morata’s injury against Manchester City last weekend.

And former Chelsea coach Wilkins insists that he has not yet been convinced by what he has seen from Batshuayi in a Blues shirt.

Speaking on Sky Sports News, Wilkins said: “I still don’t see Batshuayi getting too many starts.

“He hasn’t shown enough for me that he’s a Chelsea centre forward.”

Chelsea will look to bounce back to winning ways in the Premier League next weekend when they take on Crystal Palace at Selhurst Park.

Conte’s side dropped down into fourth place in the table last weekend following their disappointing 1-0 loss to Manchester City at Stamford Bridge.

The Blues have been in great form in Europe, however, with Chelsea winning both of their opening two Champions League games to leave them top of their group.
