Jamie Redknapp makes prediction about Tiemoue Bakayoko at Chelsea
Jamie Redknapp gives his honest assessment on Tiemoue Bakayoko following his transfer to Chelsea in the summer
Jamie Redknapp believes that Chelsea are not going to see the best of Tiemoue Bakayoko until next season.
The midfielder has been getting to grips with life at Chelsea since joining the west London side from Monaco in the summer transfer window.
The 23-year-old was brought in by Antonio Conte after the Blues boss opted to sell Nemanja Matic to Chelsea’s Premier League rivals Manchester United.
Bakayoko has made a steady start to life at Chelsea and has made eight appearances in the Premier League so far this season.
He played the full 90 minutes and notched up an assist in Chelsea’s thrilling comeback victory over Watford on Saturday afternoon.
However, former Liverpool midfielder Redknapp reckons that it is going to take some time for Bakayoko to fully adapt to the rigours of the Premier League at Stamford Bridge.
Speaking to Sky Sports on Saturday, Redknapp said: “We probably won’t see the best of him until maybe even after Christmas or even next season when you’re going to see him at his top level.
“He’s only 23 years of age, the attention every week and every question always involves Matic but he’s totally different.”
Chelsea now switch their attentions back towards League Cup affairs and their home clash against Everton at Stamford Bridge in midweek.
The west London side are aiming to defend their Premier League title this season but already find themselves nine points behind leaders Manchester City after nine games of the new campaign.
