Kenny Dalglish has hailed Jurgen Klopp as the perfect manager for Liverpool.

The Reds appointed Klopp as their new manager in October 2015 when the German coach was drafted in to replace Brendan Rodgers at Anfield.

The former Borussia Dortmund boss has struggled to significantly improved the Liverpool team since taking over the reins 24 months ago.

Liverpool reached the League Cup and Europa League finals in Klopp’s opening seven months in charge of the Merseyside outfit.

However, the Reds lost to Manchester City and Sevilla to finish the season without silverware as well as in eighth place in the Premier League table.

Liverpool secured fourth spot and a return to the Champions League last term in Klopp’s first full season in charge at the Anfield outfit.

However, the 18-time English champions have won three of their opening seven Premier League games this term to leave Liverpool seven points behind leaders Manchester City.

Former Liverpool manager Dalglish issued his backing for Klopp despite a tricky start to the season for the charismatic German coach.

“Everything, I think he’s a perfect fit for the football club. I think he can relate brilliantly to the fans and the fans can relate to him,” Dalglish told BetStars.

“I think we’re moving forwards and upwards since he’s come in. He may be criticised for the goals he concedes but his philosophy has always to score more goals than the opposition so I think that’s what the fans want to see.

“Obviously they want to see good defending work as well. Last year, they had a very good record against the top teams and tailed a wee bit against the other teams. Between now and May I think there will be a lot more smiles than there will be disappointments.”

Liverpool haven’t won the Premier League title but finished in second place in 2002, 2009 and 2014.

The Reds signed four players in the summer transfer window.
