The full-back has been a regular fixture in the Arsenal team since his arrival at The Emirates from German side Schalke back in the summer.
However, Wenger has revealed that the summer signing has been struggling with a hip problem in recent days and that he will be assessed ahead of Arsenal’s trip to Watford on Saturday evening.
Speaking at his pre-match news conference on Thursday morning, Wenger said: “He had a little hip problem but overall I haven’t seen him yet.
“I will make a check up this morning, but the news we have on him is quite positive.”
Wenger also added that the likes of Alexis Sanchez still need to be assessed before Saturday’s game, while confirming that striker Danny Welbeck is back available.
He added: “I haven’t seen everybody, because some players are coming back today and some are in tomorrow [Friday], like Alexis.”
The Arsenal manager also revealed that Mesut Ozil is back available for selection after missing some of the Gunners’ most recent games with a knee injury.
Asked about Ozil’s fitness levels, Wenger replied: “He was not available for Germany, but he is now available yes.
“He had a whole week training, he is maybe not completely back physically to his best but he is available. There is no problem anymore.”
Arsenal head into the clash with Watford looking to continue their recent upturn in form.
The north London side, who won the FA Cup last season but finished fifth, were 2-0 winners over Brighton before the international break and currently find themselves in fifth place in the table, six points behind leaders Manchester City.
