Robbie Fowler: Jurgen Klopp will restore Liverpool FC signing’s confidence
The Liverpool FC legend believes Jurgen Klopp can help Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain get back to basics
Robbie Fowler believes Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp is the right manager to restore Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain’s confidence.
The Merseyside outfit signed the England international in a £40m deal from top-four rivals Arsenal in the summer transfer window.
Oxlade-Chamberlain opted to move to Liverpool ahead of signing a contract extension with the north London outfit.
The England star had the option to complete a switch to defending Premier League champions Chelsea but Oxlade-Chamberlain settled on a move to the Anfield side.
The 24-year-old has found his first-team opportunities limited so far at Liverpool after being limited to five appearances from the bench in the Premier League.
Oxlade-Chamberlain scored his first Liverpool goal in a 7-0 win against Slovenian side Maribor in the Champions League on Tuesday night.
Former Liverpool striker Fowler is confident Klopp can get the best out of Oxlade-Chamberlain.
“He’s had a bit of a tough start to the season,” Fowler told Tag Heuer.
“He’s obviously a good player, he’s played for a good Arsenal team and playing for a good Liverpool team now.
“He looks a real confidence player and if he goes back to basics and starts doing the things that got him to the level he was and once that confidence grows, I think we’ll see a much better Oxlade-Chamberlain.
“Playing under Jurgen Klopp, I think he’s the man that will get that confidence out of him.”
Liverpool will make the trip to Tottenham Hotspur in the Premier League on Sunday afternoon in search of their first three points since a 3-2 win at Leicester City last month.
Oxlade-Chamberlain could make his first Liverpool start in the Premier League against Arsenal’s bitter rivals Tottenham in the English top flight this weekend.
Liverpool signed four players in the summer transfer window.
