Emre Can breaks his silence amid Liverpool FC speculation
Emre Can discusses the transfer speculation linking him with a move away from Liverpool FC to join Juventus
Emre Can has insisted that he is fully focused on Liverpool despite admitting that he was “flattered” by reported interest from Juventus in the summer transfer window.
The Liverpool midfielder has been locked in talks with the Anfield club about a new contract for some time, with his current deal on Merseyside set to expire in the summer of 2018.
Can is yet to commit his future to Liverpool after having entered into talks with the Reds about a new deal.
The fact that Can is yet to sign a new contract with the Premier League outfit prompted speculation over the summer that he could be set to leave Anfield, with Juventus touted as a possible destination.
Now, the Germany international has appeared to confirm that there was indeed interest from Juventus in the summer, but says he remains firmly focused on helping Liverpool this season.
Speaking in an interview with German magazine Kicker, Can said: “It’s always an honour to receive an offer from such a renowned club, but currently I am only focused on the season with Liverpool. My agent takes care of the rest
“The Premier League is just a really cool league, the most interesting in the world, but you must always respect other big clubs and leagues.”
Can will be hoping to feature for Liverpool when the Reds return to Premier League action after the international break with a crunch clash against Manchester United at Anfield on Saturday afternoon.
The Reds head into the game looking to get back to winning ways after the disappointment of their 1-1 draw with Newcastle left them seventh in the table.
