Jurgen Klopp needs to do better with Liverpool FC, warns ex-striker
Former Wimbledon striker Robbie Earle is critical of Jurgen Klopp's impact at Liverpool FC
Robbie Earle has criticised Jurgen Klopp for failing to turn Liverpool into Premier League title contenders.
The Reds were talked up as potential title challengers in 2016-17 following a brilliant start to the campaign.
Indeed, Liverpool hoisted themselves up to second place in the Premier League table on New Year’s Eve thanks to a 1-0 win against Manchester City at Anfield.
The Merseyside outfit ended up finishing in fourth place in the Premier League table following injuries to key players such as Philippe Coutinho and Sadio Mane.
Liverpool signed six players in the summer transfer window in an attempt to improve their squad for the 2017-18 season.
However, the Reds have already conceded 12 times in six games in the Premier League ahead of their trip to Newcastle United at St James’ Park on Sunday.
Former Wimbledon striker Earle believes Klopp needs to do much better at Liverpool given the squad at his disposal.
“Liverpool have enough in their squad to win the title but the coach has to do better,” Earle told NBC Sport.
Liverpool signed Hull City defender Andy Robertson, Chelsea teenager Dominic Solanke, Arsenal midfielder Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain and AS Roma winger Mohamed Salah in the summer transfer window.
