Thierry Henry believes Liverpool struggle more when Jurgen Klopp’s side are pitted against teams that like to defend deep.

Liverpool were forced to settle for a 0-0 draw with Manchester United at Anfield last weekend.

The Reds have already drawn three games and have suffered one defeat in their opening eight games ahead of their trip to Tottenham Hotspur.

The Merseyside outfit have conceded 12 times in eight games to raise concerns about their defence but their attack has also struggled domestically in recent weeks.

Liverpool were 7-0 winners against Maribor last weekend to alleviate some concerns about the form of their forwards ahead of the White Hart Lane trip.

Former Arsenal striker Henry believes Liverpool do tend to struggle against teams who like to sit back and invite pressure from the Reds.

“Liverpool struggle when a team likes to sit deep. Even more so when it’s Manchester United. Since Klopp has arrived, he has a bad record when teams sit deep. That’s why against Manchester United, he has struggled,” Henry told Sky Sports.

Liverpool finished in fourth place in the Premier League table last season.

The Reds will take on Tottenham at Wembley in their next Premier League game on Sunday.

Liverpool were 2-0 winners against Tottenham at Anfield in February in the most recent meeting between the top four rivals.
