Frank Lampard: Liverpool FC need a striker like Michael Owen
The Chelsea legend believes Liverpool are missing a clinical striker such as Michael Owen

Frank Lampard believes Liverpool need a striker like Michael Owen capable of scoring scrappy goals.
The Reds have struggled with consistency in the 2017-18 season so far after a difficult September for Jurgen Klopp’s team.
Liverpool collected seven points from their opening three Premier League games last month before a 5-0 loss to title rivals Manchester City at the Etihad Stadium at the start of the month.
The Reds have managed to secure one win in their last seven games in all competitions following last weekend’s 3-2 victory at Leicester City ahead of Sunday’s trip to Newcastle United.
While Klopp’s defence has been the subject of relentless criticism in recent weeks, the Liverpool attack have struggled to turn their dominant performances into goals.
The Reds were forced to settle for a point in a 1-1 draw with Spartak Moscow in the Champions League on Tuesday night despite registering six goals on target.
Even the introduction of Daniel Sturridge couldn’t inspire Liverpool to three points in Russia despite having so much possession.
Former Chelsea midfielder Lampard suggested Liverpool care too much about scoring the perfect goal and need a ruthless finisher.
“I think he is the most natural goal-scorer of all the Liverpool players in the team,” Lampard told BT Sport.
“We saw a clip of Michael Owen score a hat-trick of pretty scrappy goals 15 years ago. That’s what Liverpool needed in Moscow.
“There is a certain art in doing that. Liverpool are trying to get the perfect goal.”
Liverpool finished in fourth place in the Premier League table last season.
