Michael Owen warns Liverpool’s title rivals about Jurgen Klopp’s attack
The Liverpool legend is backing Jurgen Klopp's side to secure an emphatic win in the coming weeks
Michael Owen believes Liverpool will “blitz” a Premier League team in the coming weeks to put to bed a tough spell.
The Reds made a promising start to the Premier League season after earning seven points from their opening three games.
Liverpool were 4-0 winners against title rivals Arsenal at Anfield thanks to goals from Mohamed Salah, Roberto Firmino, Daniel Sturridge and Sadio Mane.
However, the Reds started September with a resounding 5-0 loss to Manchester City at the Etihad Stadium before a 1-1 home draw with Burnley.
Liverpool have struggled in front of goal in the Champions League after succumbing to a 2-2 draw with Sevilla before Tuesday night’s 1-1 stalemate with Spartak Moscow despite dominating both fixtures.
Klopp will have the luxury of starting Philippe Coutinho, Firmino, Mane and Salah in the same starting XI for the first time in the Premier League this season when Liverpool make the trip to Newcastle United at James’ Park on Sunday afternoon.
Former Reds striker Owen believes Liverpool are on the cusp of an emphatic result with the number of chances Klopp’s team continue to create in the Premier League.
“When you’re got an attacking team, you’ve always got a puncher’s chance [to get out of the crisis],” Owen told BT Sport. “Klopp is lucky in that way.
“They’ll blitz a team 4-0 or 5-0. It wasn’t long ago they were playing brilliant.”
Liverpool finished in fourth place in the Premier League table last season to secure a return to the Champions League.
