Liverpool are set to tie down Ben Woodburn and Roberto Firmino to new contracts to keep them at Anfield, according to reports in the British media.

The Liverpool Echo is reporting that Welsh teenager Woodburn is set to be rewarded with a new and improved contract on Merseyside when he turns 18 next month.

Woodburn has earned a reputation as one of the club’s most exciting young prospects since breaking into the first team under Jurgen Klopp last season and shining for Wales in recent outings.

The same report says that Liverpool are also keen to tie Firmino down to a new contract at Anfield, with the Brazilian attacker’s current deal set to expire in 2020.

Firmino has developed into one of Liverpool’s top attacking players since signing for the Merseyside outfit from German team Hoffenheim back in 2015.

The story says that Firmino is regarded as a key player for the Reds in the coming seasons and that Liverpool are keen to extend his current deals.

However, the article also reveals that there has been little progress on Emre Can’s situation at Anfield, with the German midfielder’s contract set to expire at the end of the season.

Can has been in negotiations with the club since last summer but a deal has still not been agreed, says the report.
