Paul Ince tells Jurgen Klopp to give Liverpool FC’s forgotten man chance v Huddersfield
Paul Ince wants to see Danny Ward get a chance in the Liverpool FC goal for the visit of Huddersfield Town this weekend
Paul Ince has urged Jurgen Klopp to start Danny Ward in Liverpool’s home clash against Huddersfield Town at Anfield on Saturday evening.
The Reds lost 4-1 to title contenders Tottenham Hotspur last weekend following goals from Harry Kane, Son Heung-min and Dele Alli at Wembley.
While Dejan Lovren was at fault for Tottenham’s opening two goals, Mignolet made a poor attempt to stop Alli’s crucial effort on the stroke of half-time.
According to a report earlier this week, Mignolet has made more mistakes leading to goals than any other Premier League player in the past four seasons.
Klopp signed Loris Karius in a £4.7m deal from Bundesliga outfit Mainz last summer but the German shot stopper has failed to convince and Mignolet has remained first-choice.
Wales international Ward helped Huddersfield Town to achieve promotion to the Premier League last season after he made one appearance at Euro 2016.
Ward, 25, made his only start of the season in a 2-0 loss to Leicester City in the League Cup third round.
Former Liverpool midfielder Ince wants to see Ward get a chance against Huddersfield Town at Anfield in the Premier League on Saturday afternoon.
“Maybe it’s time to give Danny Ward a chance, too. He was excellent at Huddersfield last year when they were promoted, yet he’s not had a look in. Karius and Mignolet aren’t giving their greatest performances, so why not?” Ince told Paddy Power’s website.
Liverpool finished in fourth place in the Premier League table last term.
