Thierry Henry: 25-year-old will be a special player for Liverpool FC
Thierry Henry explains why he's backing Mohamed Salah to develop into a top player for Liverpool FC
Thierry Henry is backing Mohamed Salah to develop into a special player for Liverpool in the coming seasons.
The 25-year-old has made a strong start to life at Anfield following his move to the club from Roma in the summer.
Salah has been a regular fixture in the Reds side so far this season and has scored four goals and made one assist in eight Premier League games for Jurgen Klopp’s men.
The Egypt international was unable to help Liverpool make the breakthrough against Manchester United in the goalless draw at Anfield on Saturday, but he was one of the brightest players on the pitch.
Salah will be hoping to hold down a regular spot in the first team at Liverpool as he bids to help the Reds challenge for the Premier League title this season.
And former Arsenal star Henry has been very impressed by what he has seen from the winger in a Liverpool shirt so far.
Speaking on Sky Sports on Saturday, Henry said: “For me, he is special. He has something special and I think he is a special player and will be a special player for Liverpool.
“I like the fact that he’s direct, we don’t have a lot of players like that in the game anymore.
“He doesn’t want to see the ball at his feet, he wants it in behind. And yes, some people will say he needs four opportunities to score a goal.
“But when he’s going to be able to finish all the opportunities that he has, he will be more than lethal for this club.”
Liverpool return to Champions League action on Tuesday night with a crunch clash against Maribor in the Champions League.
The Reds are aiming to win their first group-stage game of the season after draws against both Sevilla and Spartak Moscow back in September.
