Danny Murphy has suggested Jurgen Klopp is unable to land any signing he wants for Liverpool unlike his Manchester United rival Jose Mourinho.

The Merseyside outfit endured a frustrating summer transfer window despite Klopp recruiting four new players to boost his squad ahead of the new campaign.

Liverpool brought in AS Roma winger Mohamed Salah, Chelsea teenager Dominic Solanke, Hull City defender Andy Robertson and Arsenal midfielder Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain.

The Reds were forced to show patience in their pursuit of Naby Keita after reaching a £48m agreement to sign the Guinea international from RB Leipzig at the end of the 2017-18 season.

Liverpool missed out on Netherlands international Virgil van Dijk as Southampton refused to sell their club captain despite the 26-year-old handing in a transfer request.

Mourinho has signed Paul Pogba in a then world-record £89m deal, Romelu Lukaku in a £75m transfer and poached Nemanja Matic from defending Premier League champions Chelsea.

Former Liverpool and Spurs midfielder Murphy doesn’t believe Klopp has the same contacts to get any deal over the line like Mourinho has proven capable of doing at Old Trafford.

“Jose, with his contacts, is able to get any player he wants,” Murphy told Sky Sports.

“Klopp may not have that pull.”
