Liverpool FC to receive fresh £97m offer for top 25-year-old attacker – report
Barcelona are ready to make a £97m offer to sign Liverpool FC attacker Philippe Coutinho, according to reports
Barcelona are ready to test Liverpool’s resolve with a fresh £97m offer for Philippe Coutinho, according to report in Spain.
Spanish newspaper Mundo Deportivo, as quoted by the Daily Mail, is reporting that the Spanish giants are planning to launch a new attempt to lure the Brazil international in the January transfer window.
The same article states Barcelona made a number of offers to sign the 25-year-old in the summer but Liverpool refused to alter their stance on the South American.
Coutinho even handed in a transfer request in an attempt to force Liverpool’s hand but the Reds refused to budge and the attacking midfielder remained at Anfield.
According to the same report, Barcelona are now thinking about an initial €80m offer to sign Coutinho with a further €30m in add-ons for the South American attacker.
Coutinho scored Liverpool’s opener in a 3-2 win against Leicester City at the King Power Stadium with a superb free-kick on his return to Klopp’s starting line-up.
The South American midfielder netted Liverpool’s equaliser in a 1-1 draw at Spartak Moscow in the Champions League before Coutinho scored in his third successive game to make the breakthrough in the Reds’ 1-1 draw at Newcastle United.
Liverpool signed Coutinho in an £8.5m deal from Inter Milan in 2013.
