Danny Mills predicts where Liverpool, Man United will finish this season
Ex-Man City defender doesn't expect Liverpool to challenge Manchester United in the title race
Danny Mills believes Manchester United will finish behind Manchester City in the Premier League but Liverpool will not feature in the title race.
The Red Devils played out a goalless draw with Jurgen Klopp’s side at Anfield last weekend as Jose Mourinho’s side adopted a conservative approach to the bitter Premier League clash.
Manchester United are in second place and two points behind Manchester City in the Premier League table as the Citizens eased to a 7-2 victory over Stoke City at The Etihad.
Liverpool are in eighth place in the Premier League table and nine points adrift of leaders Manchester City following three victories in eight games so far.
The Reds haven’t challenged for the title since Brendan Rodgers led Liverpool to second place in the 2013-14 season.
Former Manchester City defender Mills doesn’t expect Liverpool to challenge the Manchester clubs for the title this term given their clear deficiencies in Jurgen Klopp’s squad.
“With better finishing, they could have beaten Manchester United at the weekend,” Mills told BBC Radio 5 Live.
“There is still something not quite right with Liverpool when you look at the whole picture. Both Man City and Man United look the real deal.
“They’ll be one and two [in the table]. I’m not sure Liverpool quite have enough.”
Manchester United signed Benfica defender Victor Lindelof, Chelsea midfielder Nemanja Matic and Everton striker Romelu Lukaku in the summer transfer window.
Liverpool, on the other hand, signed AS Roma winger Mohamed Salah, Chelsea teenager Dominic Solanke, Hull City defender Andy Robertson and Arsenal star Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain.
