Gary Lineker reflects on Man United’s 2-1 loss to Huddersfield
Gary Lineker reacts to Manchester United's shock 2-1 loss to Huddersfield Town in the Premier League on Saturday
Gary Lineker has taken to social media to reflect on Huddersfield Town’s shock 2-1 victory over Manchester United in the Premier League on Saturday afternoon.
The Red Devils went 2-0 down to the newly-promoted side after goals from Aaron Mooy and Laurent Depoitre – and although Marcus Rashford pulled a goal back for the visitors in the second half, it wasn’t enough to spark a comeback from Jose Mourinho’s men.
The result marked Manchester United’s first defeat in the Premier League this season and left them five points behind leaders Manchester City after nine games of the new campaign.
And England legend Lineker took to social media to reflect on the result as Mourinho’s men suffered a famous defeat in the top flight.
Lineker wrote on Twitter: “Huddersfield Town have beaten Manchester United in a league game for the first time in 65 years.”
Manchester United will now have to dust themselves down as they bid to get back to winning ways in the Premier League when they host Tottenham Hotspur at Old Trafford next Sunday.
The Red Devils, who finished sixth and won both the League Cup and Europa League last term, are aiming to win the Premier League title for the first time since their final triumph under Sir Alex Ferguson in the 2012-13 campaign.
