Jose Mourinho has told Manchester United fans to get behind Romelu Lukaku as the striker continues to adapt to life at Old Trafford.

The Belgian forward has been getting used to life in the Premier League with Mourinho’s men after signing for the Red Devils from Everton back in July.

Lukaku has made a solid start to his Manchester United career, scoring seven goals and making three assists in the Premier League so far.

However, he has failed to score in his last five outings for Manchester United in recent weeks.

There were some jeers and grumbles from the Manchester United home fans on Saturday as Mourinho opted to take off Marcus Rashford rather than Lukaku during the Red Devils’ 1-0 win over Tottenham at Old Trafford.

And Mourinho has pleaded with Red Devils fans to get fully behind Lukaku as he continues to adapt to life at Old Trafford.

Speaking to MUTV, Mourinho said: “I would like the supporters to explain to me why they don’t support him so much because he gives everything and I think it is not fair when scoring the goal or not scoring the goal makes the whole difference.

“I don’t think it Is fair at all. So I’m a bit disappointed – but not with him. With him I’m very pleased.”

Manchester United now switch their attentions back to Champions League affairs and their home clash against Benfica on Tuesday night.

The Red Devils have made a fine start to their European campaign so far this season, winning all three of their opening group games to leave them within touching distance of the last 16.
