Ryan Giggs admits he is loving the battle between Anthony Martial and Marcus Rashford at Manchester United.

The Red Devils have made a brilliant start to the season thanks in part to the excellent form of Martial and Rashford.

Manchester United manager Jose Mourinho has alternated between Martial and Rashford on the left wing in the 2017-18 season so far.

The England international has scored two goals and three assists in five starts in the Premier League and one substitute appearance.

Martial has regularly come on as a late subsitute for Rashford and the France star has netted three goals and two assists in one start and four cameo appearances.

With Romelu Lukaku continuing to dominate in a centre-forward role following a return of seven goals in seven games, Martial and Rashford look set to continue to battle for a first-team place on the left side of Mourinho’s attack.

Manchester United legend Giggs admits he is enjoying the battle between Martial and Rashford in the Manchester United team this season.

“The battle between Marcus Rashford and Antony Martial has also been great to follow,” Giggs told Sky Sports.

“I could definitely see them in the same team, with Marcus being more of a natural centre-forward whereas Martial is more of a left-sided forward but can also play centrally.

“They’ve got incredible pace so they are extremely dangerous, although to be considered top players they need to be scoring 20 goals a season.”

Manchester United ended up in sixth place in the Premier League table last season but won the EFL Cup and the Europa League under Mourinho.

The Red Devils signed three players in the summer transfer window.
