Man United ‘highly confident’ of signing Arsenal star in January – report
Manchester United are confident of being able to tempt Mesut Ozil to leave Arsenal and sign for them in the new year, say reports
Manchester United are very confident of being able to sign Mesut Ozil from Arsenal in the January transfer window, according to reports in the British media.
The Independent is reporting that Red Devils boss Jose Mourinho is certain that he will be able to convince the 28-year-old playmaker to join him at Old Trafford based on their previous working relationship together at Real Madrid.
The same report says that talks between Ozil and Arsenal about a possible new contract at The Emirates are at an “impasse” and that could mean him leaving the club in January.
Ozil, 28, has less than a year left on his current contract with Arsenal and it remains to be seen whether he will sign a new deal with the north London club.
The story says that Manchester United are now prepared to make a move to try and sign the World Cup winner in the new year, when the transfer window reopens.
The same report also claims that Ozil and Mourinho have remained on good terms following their stint together at Real Madrid.
Ozil has been sidelined in Arsenal’s most recent games due to a knee injury and he’ll be hoping to be back in action against Watford after the international break.
