Jose Mourinho is ready to sign a new contract with Manchester United and commit his long-term future to the club, according to reports in the British media.

The Sun is reporting that the Portuguese coach is ready to sign a new five-year deal worth as much as £65m to the Red Devils boss.

Mourinho took over at Old Trafford in the summer of 2016 and led the Red Devils to the League Cup and Europa League trophies in his first season in charge at the club.

The Red Devils have now also made a strong start to the new Premier League season, after having won six of their opening seven games to leave them second in the table and level on points with leaders Manchester City.

Mourinho is believed to earn around £250,000 a week on his current contract and according to the report, his basic wage will remain the same, but the incentives for trophies and league positions is set to “rocket”.

The same story says that the final details of the new contract are yet to be agreed.

Mourinho, who takes his Manchester United team to Liverpool in the Premier League on Saturday lunchtime, initially signed a three-year contract when he took over at Old Trafford last summer.
