Juan Mata heaps praise on Marcus Rashford for his recent rise to prominence at Manchester United
Juan Mata is backing Marcus Rashford to enjoy a fruitful career at Manchester United because of his hard-working mentality.
The 19-year-old has earned plenty of praise since breaking into the first team at Old Trafford under Louis van Gaal two seasons ago and he has been a regular fixture in the first team under Jose Mourinho this term.
Rashford has earned a reputation as one of the Premier League’s most exciting young attacking talents since his rise to prominence at Old Trafford.
Mata has been working alongside Rashford and has seen the teenager develop in recent seasons.
And the Spanish playmaker believes that Rashford is on the path to greatness because of the hard-working attitude he shows in training and behind the scenes at Manchester United.
Speaking to the Daily Star, Mata said: “It’s down to everything he does on the pitch.
“The qualities he has, the important player he is in some difficult games where he just takes the ball and scores two great goals, like last time in the League Cup.
“I see so many players at that age like this, and then they don’t keep consistency.
“But I believe Marcus can because it’s down to his mentality – and he has the right mentality for that.”
Both Rashford and Mata will be hoping to feature for Manchester United when the Red Devils return to Premier League action after the international break with a crunch clash against bitter rivals Liverpool at Anfield.
Mourinho’s men have made a flying start to the new campaign and currently find themselves in second place in the table and level on points with leaders Manchester City after seven games.
