Le Tissier: Man United star is the best in the Premier League, he’s a class above
Matt Le Tissier talks up Manchester United goalkeeper David De Gea as one of the best two goalkeepers in the world
Matt Le Tissier believes Manchester United goalkeeper David De Gea is at another level above Thibaut Courtois and Hugo Lloris.
The Spain international endured a tough outing at Huddersfield Town last weekend after the Manchester United shot stopper was beaten twice in a 2-1 loss to the promoted side at the John Smith’s Stadium.
The Red Devils goalkeeper has still managed to keep an incredible seven clean sheets in their nine Premier League games so far to help Manchester United remain on the coattails of runaway leaders Manchester City.
De Gea produced perhaps the save of the season so far when the former Atletico Madrid youngster denied Liverpool centre-half Joel Matip from close range in a goalless draw at Anfield earlier this month.
The Manchester United shot stopper, who has been regularly linked with a move to Real Madrid over the past four or five seasons, has been talked about in the same bracket as Chelsea’s Courtois and Tottenham’s Lloris.
However, former Southampton captain Le Tissier believes De Gea is a class above his two Premier League rivals as one of the best two goalkeepers in world football.
“For me, David de Gea is out on his own as the best Premier League goalkeeper, with Hugo Lloris and Thibaut Courtois in the next tier,” Le Tissier told Sky Sports.
“De Gea is challenging to be the best in the world with Manuel Neuer.”
Manchester United will host Tottenham Hotspur in their next Premier League game at Old Trafford on Sunday.
