Klopp worked with Mkhitaryan at Dortmund before he ended up signing for Manchester United in one of Jose Mourinho’s first transfers at Old Trafford last summer.
Mkhitaryan has been in top form for Manchester United so far this season, scoring one goal and making five assists in seven Premier League appearances for the Red Devils.
The playmaker will line up for Manchester United against Klopp’s Liverpool side at Anfield in Saturday’s crunch Premier League clash on Merseyside.
And the Armenian playmaker has revealed that he will always be grateful to the Liverpool manager for the impact he had on his career.
Mkhitaryan told German magazine 11 Freunde: “I am thankful to Klopp. He worked on my personality and the psychological part.
“Klopp showed me the way. He supported me and told me I had to keep my head up because good things were coming.”
Manchester United are aiming to challenge for the Premier League title this season after the Red Devils finished sixth in the table last term.
The Red Devils have made a strong start and currently find themselves second and level on points with Manchester City.
Liverpool, meanwhile, head into Saturday’s game looking to return to winning ways after the disappointment of their 1-1 draw with Newcastle United before the international break.
