Jose Mourinho praised Manchester United’s attitude in a 1-0 win against Tottenham Hotspur at Old Trafford on Saturday afternoon.

The Red Devils welcomed Spurs to the Theatre of Dreams in their first Premier League fixture since a 2-1 loss to promoted side Huddersfield Town at John Smith’s Stadium last weekend.

Manchester United started the weekend five points behind leaders Manchester City following their stalemate with Liverpool at Anfield and surprise defeat at Huddersfield Town.

The Red Devils had to dig deep against Spurs to conjure three points after second-half substitution Anthony Martial secured three points with his fourth goal of the season.

Manchester United have won all five of their Premier League games at Old Trafford this season following victories over West Ham, Leicester City, Everton, Crystal Palace and Tottenham.

And Red Devils boss Mourinho praised his players for showing a better attitude in Manchester United’s 1-0 win against Tottenham.

“We all feel we have to win every match so that’s why I was disappointed at Huddersfield,” Mourinho told Sky Sports.

“It looked like we didn’t know that every point is a precious point.

“Today, every ball looked like the last ball of their careers.”

Manchester United finished in sixth place in the Premier League table last season but won the League Cup and the Europa League.

The Red Devils will return to Champions League action with a home clash against Benfica on Tuesday night.

Manchester United are looking to win the Premier League title for the first time since 2013.
