Marcus Rashford believes he has improved in light of his rivalry with Manchester United forward Anthony Martial.

The Red Devils starlet has been in a battle with the France international for a starting position in Jose Mourinho’s side in the opening weeks of the Premier League season.

Martial and Rashford are both in a battle to secure a spot on the left wing in Manchester United’s side under Mourinho in the 2017-18 Premier League campaign so far.

The England striker has come out on top in the battle so far after racking up 473 Premier League minutes, while Martial has only featured for 140 minutes in the top flight.

However, the former Monaco star has benefited from Rashford’s hard work following a return of three goals and two assists in six Premier League appearances.

Rashford, on the other hand, has only managed to score two times but has made three goals for his team-mates to help Manchester United keep pace with title rivals Manchester City.

And the England starlet opened up about his budding rivalry with Martial in the Manchester United team which is seemingly benefitting both the players and the club.

“Without it, you don’t improve,” Rashford told Sky Sports. “Young players need that sort of environment around them.

“I think we’re both enjoying our football at the moment, we’re both having our say in the games, and it’s good for us, good for the manager, good for the team.”

Manchester United were 4-0 winners against Crystal Palace at Old Trafford on Saturday afternoon.
