Phil Neville believes Manchester United are in a better position to win the Premier League title than Manchester City this season.

The Red Devils are in second place in the Premier League table following last weekend’s goalless draw with Liverpool at Anfield.

Manchester United have won six games and drawn twice in their opening eight games to remain unbeaten like their derby rivals Manchester City.

Jose Mourinho’s men have scored 21 times and have kept seven clean sheets to make a consistent start to the Premier League campaign.

Manchester United were heavily criticised for showing a lack of adventure at Liverpool despite securing a credible point at Anfield.

Manchester City, on the other hand, have now scored 24 times in their last five games in the Premier League to lay down a marker in the title race.

Pep Guardiola’s side have even managed to beat Liverpool 5-0 at The Etihad to dismiss the challenge of one of their top-four rivals.

But former Manchester United defender Neville believes the Red Devils are well-placed to win the title thanks to their style of football despite Manchester City’s all-conquering performances.

“Man City are playing the best football I’ve seen from any team in a long time,” Neville told BBC Radio 5 Live.

“We’re only seven or eight games into the season. They did this last season for the first 10 games. Can they sustain that for the whole season? I think Man United can.”

Manchester United finished in sixth place in the Premier League table last term.
